Goodbye Riley

Riley is moving to Christchurch. Friday is her last day so we will all bring something to share for morning tea.

We will really miss you Riley. God bless you. Have fun at your new school.

Hatching Eggs

The Martin family have bought special eggs lent us an incubator.

We read a book that had pictures of the different stages of development of the chick while still in the egg.  We learnt that the eggs have to be kept a little bit wet as well as warm.
Abbey N says "It will take 21 days for our eggs to hatch. We won't open the incubator."

One mum's good idea

"I wrote numbers on scraps of paper. My children and I skip counted forward and backwards in two's. We jumped on the number as we said it. The ACTION of jumping and forward and backwards really helped them to remeber it well"

If you have good learning ideas that you would like to share, post a comment or tell us at school!

Rules and Making Good Choices

We had a great class trip. Thank you to all those wonderful parents who came with us. We couldn't have managed without you!

Shakayla says "My favorite part was TDC where I sat at this table and talked in to the black microphones about what I think the bike helmet rules should be.

Seth liked the jail at the police station. They had warm seats to sleep on. This policeman is Isabella's dad.

Georgia's favorite place was the "dungeons" (Old jail House in Washbourn Gardens)

Fun Maths Games

Addition and subtraction up to 10 is a very important stepping stone to do more complicated maths as the children grow older. Children can not move on until this is mastered.
There is a great free web site called Coolmaths that we use at school and recomend for home use. For adding to tens, type coolmath into google, click on the tab that says "All games A -Z" and select NUMBER TWINS or MATH LINES.

Book Week

This Week is book week. We have to read as many books as possible before Friday. The winner gets a prize.

Get Well Soon!!

One of our boys has Chicken Pox.

Chicken Pox incubation period is 10 to 23 days. If your child has chicken pox they could start by feeling tired and generally unwell, with a runny nose and mild fever. After this they will have a red rash that develops into spots and blisters. They will be infectious until the last chicken pox has scabbed over.

Hannah's Chicks

Hannah's mum and dad brought in 3 baby chicks for us to hold. They were Hannah's 7th birthday present. Watch this space because we will be hatching our own chicks in an incubator!!!

Numeracy

We have finished algebra now. We are learning to skip count in two's to 100. We are learning to go forwards and backwards, in both even numbers and odd numbers
