Mini Natureland!!
Today goslings, rabbits and one baby duck came to visit room two. The goslings had to eat wet bread and I got to touch a gosling. Bradley liked a gray rabbit and he held it. The baby duck looked like it was fighting with Mrs. Shellings chick. The gosling bit Hannah's finger.

Hannah's Goslings
Today I held a chick. It pecked my finger and my fleece and one time it fell asleep on my lap. I love chicks. They are cute fluffy and fun.
Then a few minutes later Hannah came in with her dad. They had goslings. What a surprise. They had rabbits too. We got to pat the rabbits, hold the chicks and pat the goslings.

Homework
Please remember the FREE web site http://www.coolmaths.com/ . Number twins and maths lines help reinforce essential learning in a fun way.
Time
We are learning about time.
We are learning to "interpret " calendars, to calculating the days and months of the year and when the year begins and ends, how many days make a week, how many days are in a fortnight and a month.
We will learn how many seconds are in a minute, how many minutes in an hour, how many hours in a day.

Different ingredients can cause different reations. We learnt that yeast causes a reaction called fermentation.
Te Awhina Marae
Last Thursday we went to Te Awhina Marae. It was so cool. It is a living Marae. People live there. The hall is still used by the community. With the support of the community and churches of Motueka, they looked after lots of Christchurch earthquake victims. They help local teenagers and teach them to carve.

Goodbye Riley
Riley is moving to Christchurch. Friday is her last day so we will all bring something to share for morning tea.
We will really miss you Riley. God bless you. Have fun at your new school.
Hatching Eggs
The Martin family have bought special eggs lent us an incubator.
We read a book that had pictures of the different stages of development of the chick while still in the egg. We learnt that the eggs have to be kept a little bit wet as well as warm.
Abbey N says "It will take 21 days for our eggs to hatch. We won't open the incubator."
One mum's good idea
"I wrote numbers on scraps of paper. My children and I skip counted forward and backwards in two's. We jumped on the number as we said it. The ACTION of jumping and forward and backwards really helped them to remeber it well"
If you have good learning ideas that you would like to share, post a comment or tell us at school!
